We Believe in the Power of Community!
Alma Oasis was created in 2023, brought to life from the shared vision of two individuals captivated by the beauty and mystery of daily life but also by the climate problems and unmet solutions in our society. Our vision is to inspire the environmentally curious and encourage change in individual behaviors to have a positive impact on the earth, however large or small.
‘Alma’ means the soul, reflecting the essence of our being and ‘Oasis’ signifies a flourishing ecosystem in an otherwise arid world. Together, Alma Oasis represents the harmonious coexistence of the human spirit and nature, a place where individuals learn to thrive on a constantly evolving planet.
Our Mission Statement
We believe that there’s rewarding work in creating an eco-logical lifestyle and livelihood and it’s the best way to confront the multifaceted crises that we face as a civilization. Unfortunately, traditional educational institutions are more interested in training people to be “cogs in the industrial machine”.
For that reason, we seek to offer affordable online courses that will help people to begin to question the unsustainability of our current industrial civilization as well as develop the skills, tools and abilities necessary to inspire positive change in the lives around us.
Through our unique online course platform, students will have the ability to engage in forums with other students and instructors to openly discuss the ideas presented in each course.
Our educational model, then, is focused more on praxis than theory. Theorizing about sustainable societies is a good first step, but we hope that our online courses will eventually lead our students into the hard, but necessary and rewarding work of building alternative lifestyles.
